Home care, not veterinary care

Pet Gentleman kits are tools for routine, at-home oral hygiene. They aren't intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, and they don't replace veterinary examinations, advice or professional dental cleanings. Home brushing removes soft plaque and food debris from the outer tooth surfaces; it can't remove hardened tartar or treat gum disease. Keep your pet's regular veterinary dental checkups.

When to pause and call your veterinarian

Stop brushing and contact your veterinarian if you notice:

bleeding that doesn't stop, or bleeding without gentle contact
swelling of the gums, mouth, jaw or face
loose, broken or discolored teeth
difficulty eating, dropping food, chewing on one side or refusing food
signs of pain, such as pulling away sharply, pawing at the mouth or a sudden change in how your pet accepts handling

For severe bleeding, breathing difficulty, suspected poisoning, collapse or rapidly worsening symptoms, contact an emergency veterinary clinic right away. A painful animal may bite — always handle your pet's mouth carefully.

About our saline

Sterile 0.9% sodium chloride solution for moistening oral-care tools. Not for injection. Not for use in the eyes or ears unless your veterinarian directs it.
Once opened, use within 24 hours and discard the remainder. Don't use an ampoule that is damaged or was opened earlier.
Each 5 mL ampoule contains about 45 mg of salt; only a few drops are used per session. If your pet is on a sodium-restricted diet or has a heart or kidney condition, ask your veterinarian before use.
Don't substitute homemade salt water. Its strength varies, it isn't sterile, and excess salt can be harmful if swallowed.
Store at room temperature, out of direct sunlight and out of reach of children and pets.

Using the tools safely

Supervise every session. Wipes, swabs, brushing aids and toothbrushes are not chew toys.
Inspect tools before each use. Stop using any tool that is cracked, loose or damaged.
Use the brushing aid only to hold the lip gently back. Never use it, or anything else, to force your pet's mouth open.
Use a separate wipe or swab for each pet, and discard single-use items after one session.
Keep all kit contents away from unsupervised pets and children.
Never use human toothpaste on a pet.
