Who we are

We're a small team, not a lab and not a veterinary practice. We are not veterinarians, and we don't present ourselves as experts in diagnosis or treatment. Our focus is the part that happens at home: helping ordinary owners start a gentle brushing routine and keep it going. For anything beyond that, we send you to your vet.

Where it started

It began at a routine checkup. The veterinarian lifted a lip on one of our team's pets and pointed out red, irritated gums and buildup that no toothbrush could remove anymore. That pet needed veterinary dental treatment, and came through it well.

The question that stayed with all of us was simpler: how much of this could have been slowed down years earlier, with a couple of minutes of brushing a day? The American Veterinary Medical Association notes that most dogs and cats show signs of dental disease by age three. It's common, it's often quiet, and home care is the part owners can control.

What we found when we tried to start

We did what most owners do and went to the pet dental aisle: bristle brushes, finger brushes, double-headed brushes, gels, sprays, flavored pastes. A lot of it went unused. Some brushes were too big for a cat's mouth. Some were too stiff for a nervous dog. A few looked clever and never got used twice.

When we compared notes, we kept reaching the same conclusion. There's no single "best" tool. There's the tool your pet will accept today. Many pets tolerate a soft finger wipe long before they'll allow a brush. Some prefer a slim swab. Many come around to a real toothbrush once the routine feels familiar.

How we put the kits together

So instead of selling one tool and hoping it fits, our kits give you more than one way in. Depending on the kit, that means:

• Textured finger wipes for the first sessions, when getting used to touch matters more than technique.
• Oral swabs with a soft foam tip on a slim handle, for small mouths and pets who won't accept a finger.
• A brushing aid that gently holds the lip back, sized for cats and small dogs, medium to large dogs, or pets with a narrow mouth who won't open wide.

You introduce them one at a time, watch how your pet responds, and keep using what works. Less guessing, fewer rejected purchases, and a routine built around your pet instead of around a product.

Why we brush with saline instead of toothpaste

Pets can't rinse and spit, so whatever goes on the brush gets swallowed. When we read the labels, we found ingredients we didn't want our own pets swallowing every day: sweeteners, foaming agents, dyes, strong flavorings. Human toothpaste is a different problem altogether. It can contain fluoride and xylitol, and xylitol is dangerous for dogs.

So we kept it simple: sterile 0.9% saline, just salt and purified water at the same concentration as body fluids. It moistens the wipe, swab or brush so it glides, and it helps rinse away loose food debris. To be clear about what does the work: the cleaning comes from the gentle mechanical action of brushing, with or without toothpaste. Saline simply adds nothing your pet shouldn't swallow.

Opened saline doesn't stay sterile, so every ampoule holds a single 5 mL session. Twist it open, brush, and discard the rest within 24 hours. If your pet is on a sodium-restricted diet, check with your veterinarian first.

A plan for the hardest part: the beginning

The tools turned out to be the easy part. Starting was harder: how long a first session should last, when to move from a finger to a brush, what to do when a cat backs away or a dog decides it's a game. Most dental products come with a tool, not a way to begin.
